MANALI DIARIES

One of the foremost popular hill stations in India, Manali is an amidst the mountain slopes, with spell-binding views, charming streams, the fairy-tale-like fog surrounding little hidden cottages, and a lingering scent of pines and freshness. The heavy influx of tourists has led to the exploitation of Manali as a tourist destination, though the encircling areas are still relatively untouched. Nevertheless, this can be one place that should definitely get on your bucket list.

Every year trips are organized by my college Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. We decided to plan our journey to Manali through the bus, road trips.

I like winter season more and prefer winter trips over summer trips. This trip was organized in January and the weather of Manali in winter is mesmerizing. it had been a 6 days trip, and I packed my bags to enjoy this trip and to gather MANALI MEMORIES, along with my friends.

WHAT TO PACK

As the weather of Manali is cold and the chances of rainfall/ snowfall are high during winter. So everyone needs to pack woolen clothes, socks, mufflers, gloves, heavy jackets, caps, and rain-coat.

You can carry any cold cream with you for your skincare, as for me I carried NIVEA SOFT MOISTURIZING CREAM.

ROUTE: DELHI TO MANALI

Delhi — Panipat — Karnal — Kurukshetra — Ambala — Chandigarh — Mandi — Naggar — Manali

Manali is at a distance of 289, and 532 kilometers from Delhi. My journey got more amazing with my friends and our phones are also jam-packed with our bus memories too.

JOURNEY (DAY-1) DELHI TO MANALI

Our buses parked outside of our college and we started our journey in the evening around 7 pm. We reached Karnal at 10 pm and had enough time to have our dinner at CHD Daana Paani. The food was really delicious and the other important thing is that there are other outlets too like BURGER KING with the restaurant.

Then we started our journey towards Manali. It took almost 10hr to reach Manali from Karnal. The road is pretty good if you follow the Chandigarh-Mandi-Manali route. It felt good to experience chilled weather when the bus entered the state of Himachal Pradesh. The scenic beauty of the hilly landscape of Manali was a treat for the eyes. You feel amazing as you feel the breeze, the sounds at hills, everything seems fun and enjoyable.

The next morning we woke up, had our breakfast, and started our journey towards GURUDWARA SHRI MANIKARAN SAHIB at 10 in the morning. It was around 80km away and 2 hours road journey from Manali.

The history of MANIKARAN SAHIB dictates that the town was touched by both the Hindu gods and Guru Nanak Sahib though at different times. As Devoted Sikhs with their KIRPANS hanging around their waist walked swiftly towards the GURUDWARA SHRI MANIKARAN SAHIB. Hindu families strode to the SHIVA AND RAM TEMPLE to bathe their young ones. There’s an old legend, which says that this was the place where Goddess Parvati had lost her earring, as she and Shiva were visiting. The earring was then stolen by Shesha Nag- A Demon. However, the demon was forced to surrender when Shiva performed is eccentric Tandav Nritya, and shot the jewel up through the water. The important thing about this place is that the water spring is too hot that no-one can stand or touch it, but the water stream flows at the down of the GURUDWARA SHRI MANIKARAN SAHIB is extremely cold.

Around 7 pm in the evening, we went back to our resort. And around 8 we had our DJ Night and Bonfire in the hall of our resort. We danced and enjoyed ourselves a lot on various songs. It had been an incredible day with a more amazing night. Later we had dinner and we went back to our rooms. as it was our last night in Manali. We enjoyed the whole night by playing games, sang songs, had a dance.

In the morning around 9 am we went for our educational visit with a local NEWSPAPER AGENCY as we are from the JOURNALISM department. And afterward, we pack our bags to come back to Delhi.
